5x5

The story about the 5x5 LED lamp comes together with the 5x5 chair introduced and awarded previous year. The chair's unique material characteristic required tiles’ dimensions of approximately 5x5 cm. Therefore the same dimensions were the starting point for the lamp. In order to avoid the direct form's repetition the 5x5 cm is applied in a form of rhombus, the main modular structure part of the lamp. Several lamps mounted together offer the possibility to create different lighting patterns like zig-zag, diagonal line, the shape of an arrow, or other shapes by using designer's own creativity.

The combination and mixing of lines, shapes and volumes gives us the final result of the handle. It has net, geometrical lines suitable for every up-to-date house. It is an everyday object, seen from an architectural perspective. The goal is to show how the external forms should access the interior space making it in this way more polished and minimal. El_Masnad

El_Masnad is a floor seating carpet designed for living rooms. The design takes the armrest, a traditional focal point in Saudi homes, and uses it as the main element of the seating unit, while all other parts of a common seat are removed. El_Masnad keeps users close to the ground, so sitting feels playful and intuitive. The pieces have no fixed orientation and can be combined in many configurations. The foam core is shaped by five-axis hot wire milling and wrapped in stitched felt, like a rolled carpet.
